Company Overview
Guild Incorporated is a health and human services organization that exists to help people with mental illness lead quality lives.

Our commitment to helping individuals achieve success in the community despite significant psychiatric disabilities dates back to the early 1970’s. We help those who have the greatest difficulty with basic daily activities and who have persistent symptoms that are not easily relieved. Today we assist more than 500 Minnesotans on any given day, serving more than 900 over the course of a year, all of whom live in the east metropolitan area.

Most often the individuals we serve have schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, or another psychiatric illness. The majority of individuals served have co-existing diagnoses related to psychoactive substance abuse and other physical health challenges. They have histories of multiple hospitalizations and face other complications such as poverty, homelessness, social isolation and unemployment.

The life each person has beyond his or her illness, however, is of much greater importance. Each person has special strengths, interests, aspirations, and abilities – the development of which is the key to recovery.

We are reaching our mission when individuals served:

  • have safe, affordable housing in which to live
  • find suitable employment or pursue education
  • maintain their optimum physical and mental health
  • have recreation and socializing opportunities
  • have and report a sense of satisfaction with their quality of life, security and hope for the future.
Guild Incorporated is organized under Minnesota law as a not-for-profit corporation and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, representing the communities we serve.

Initially our programs were provided under the auspices of The Guild of Catholic Women, Inc. Ramsey County Community Human Services recruited the volunteer organization to help those turned out of Hastings State Hospital when it closed. Over the years, community needs and services grew and, in 1990, The Guild of Catholic Women established Guild Incorporated to carry forward, as a separate professional organization, the rehabilitation services they began.

Guild Incorporated uses public and private resources to accomplish our public benefit mission. We are mindful at all times of our duty to fulfill the public trust.
