Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA (www.cruzinc.us) has a position open and is looking for qualified candidates for a Mechanical Engineer. The job location is Ft. Eustis, Virginia in support of the Engineering and Design Analysis Branch, U.S. Army Aviation Applied Technology Directorate (AATD).
Scope: Serves as a Mechanical Engineer for the U.S. Army Aviation Applied Technology Directorate. The position will provide engineering analysis and testing support to develop multiple stress / test reports and flight-test instrumentation plans for multiple army aircraft projects. The stress and test reports shall show the “considered design” to be in compliance with the original Prime Item Development Specifications, applicable FAA regulations, and/or required maneuver, crash and fatigue loads for the applicable airframe. Work will include structural load test plans, which shall show detailed knowledge of airframe considered and expected load paths. Additional tasks will include Resonance Assessment Profiles (RAP) testing and vibrational data collection. The engineer shall analyze this data and generate reports identifying potential resonance within 5% of rotor harmonics.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Be familiar with classical analysis as well as finite element analysis software tools
Be familiar with fatigue analysis and be able to make finite / infinite life assessments
Requires working knowledge of the Army's airworthiness processes
Requires experience in developing system descriptions and developing Technical Data Packages
Requires a degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
Requires at least a Secret or Interim Secret security clearance
