Job Description
Linxx Global Solutions, LLC. (Linxx) is currently seeking experienced Advance Travel Document Examiner (ATDE) Instructors to fill Independent Contractor training positions in support of the Global Anti-terrorism Assistance II (ATA) program.  Applicants must have a training background and be willing to travel, both domestically and abroad, for short-term assignments. 

This position is not at a specific location.

ATDE Course Description
ATDE is a 4-day course designed for 24 participants who are experienced in document examination and who examine travel documents on a routine basis. The course begins with a review on basic characteristics of security features found in genuine travel documents, and how those features can be replicated and simulated in counterfeit and altered documents.  The participants will practice how to analyze a questioned document by using various tools including lighting and magnification, and they will be introduced to and practice using a stereoscopic microscope to definitively determine whether or not a questioned document is genuine, altered, or counterfeit.  Case studies and current events related to trends in terrorism with regard to the use of fraudulent travel documents will be presented, as will information on emerging technologies and the use of the e-passport. The benefits of information analysis and data storage, the creation of illustrated travel document alert bulletins, and the value of domestic and international information sharing will be presented and discussed. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conducting classroom instruction, presentations, and exercises in accordance with the guidelines and directives set forth by the Department of State Diplomatic Security Office of Antiterrorism Assistance (DS/T/ATA). Facilitators must be willing to travel to developing countries and U.S. training sites to perform duties;
  • Responsible for ensuring only current DS/T/ATA approved training materials (lesson plans, participant handouts, videos, case studies, etc.) are used in the delivery of DS/T/ATA courses;
  • Liaise with the DS/T/ATA Training Delivery Coordinator (TDC) on all aspects of training and accept and follow any specific instruction provided by that DS/T/ATA TDC;
  • Coordinate classroom preparation;
  • Administer Pre/Post Course Knowledge Surveys utilizing DS/T/ATA;
  • Administer Course Participant Skills Evaluations (when appropriate) utilizing DS/T/ATA approved format;
  • Administer Course Critiques utilizing DS/T/ATA approved format;
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operational activities as reflected in the program of instruction;
  • Responsible for validating, justifying, and reporting any deviations from the program of instruction;
  • Interact professionally outside of normal training hours with course participants and training venue officials when appropriate and approved by ATA.

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with eight (8) years’ work experience as a border, immigration, customs, or security officer, involving examining, detecting, and evaluating traveler behaviors and travel documents for validity
  • Ten (10) years of work experience as a border, immigration, customs, or security officer, involving examining, detecting, and evaluating traveler behaviors and travel documents for validity
  • Must be able to interact with the traveling public
  • Must be able to examine and evaluate travel and identity documents for validity
  • Must be able to detect fraudulent documents, whether as a border, immigration, or security officer or investigator
  • Conducted work in a forensics laboratory examining travel, identity and civil documents for fraudulent activity.
  • Knowledgeable of document security features and trends in fraudulent documents,
  • Able to use and to demonstrate the use of the tools to include stereomicroscopes utilized to examine documents and identify, detect, and articulate the fraudulent activity used to alter or counterfeit travel and identity documents.
  • Formal training in document security features and detecting fraudulent travel and identity documents from Department of Homeland Security (including legacy agencies of Immigration & Naturalization Service, the U.S. Customs Service) or Department of State Consular services or the Department of the Treasury.
  • Graduate of any local, state, or federal law enforcement academy or institution.
  • Successful annual medical screening.
  • Successful completion of the ATA instructor skills course.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
