Sentara Norfolk General Hospital's Breast Center is looking for a Full-Time Mammography/IR/Ultrasound Tech to join the team!

Position and Department Overview:

  • Perform and analyze all diagnostic and interventional breast ultrasound procedures at a technical level requiring independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative.
  • Utilizes appropriate techniques to ensure quality ultrasound images and accurate analytical results.
  • Perform all quality control and quality assurance standards as prescribed by all state, federal, and local agencies.
  • Provide the best patient care and practice radiation safety standards at all times.
  • Performs and analyze all ordered screening and diagnostic mammograms on all patients.
  • Performs all additional view mammograms ordered by the Radiologist.
  • Perform all quality control and quality assurance standards as prescribed by all state, federal, and local agencies.
  • Provide the best patient care and practice radiation safety standards at all times.
  • Assists the Radiologist and or Surgeon with special procedures, consulting with the Radiologist, when necessary, including stereotactic, needle localizations, and ultrasound guided biopsies.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique.
  • Properly fills out appropriate laboratory slips and transport specimens to correct destination. Provides proper wound care and wound checks.

The Sentara Norfolk General Comprehensive Breast Center is among an elite group designated as an American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. After rigorous evaluation, our center is NAPBC accredited in the three major areas of breast imaging and cancer detection: mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and ultrasound-guided biopsy.

Required Education:

Trade School Graduate - Radiologic Technology

Licenses and Certifications:

  • ARRT (M) and ARRT (R)
  • ARRT(BS) or ARDMS required
  • Basic Life Support

Required Experience:

  • 2 years mammograph, 1 year stereotactic and 6 month breast ultrasound experience required

TS - Trade School Graduate (Required)

ARRT Breast Sonography (BS) - Certifications - American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - Certifications - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
