Job Description

MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or similar disciplines
  • Experience in Java software development in Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience developing C++ object-oriented software in Linux environments
  • Demonstrable OO design skills and use of design patterns
  • Experience installing and configuring applications in a virtual machine or containerized environment
  • Experience troubleshooting issues in Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience working with scripting languages
  • Familiar with computer networking
  • Experience developing engaging and intuitive user interfaces
  • Demonstrable OO design skills and use of design patterns
  • Experience installing and configuring systems and frameworks
  • Ability to work in a team environment and follow software engineering practices

DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Active Security Clearance
  • Familiar with the use of middleware in distributed applications and/or disconnected environments
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience developing engaging and intuitive user interfaces
  • Experience developing client-server implementations
  • Experience with Gradle, Spring, Swing, and JavaFX
  • Experience with the Atlassian product suite (JIRA, Bitbucket) and/or similar GIT tools
  • Experience with CORBA and/or similar service-oriented architectures (SOA)
  • Experience with Google protobufs
  • Experience with digital signal processing with GnuRadio or similar tools
  • Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
  • Experience working with Docker
  • Experience with system administration in Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience scripting or automated tasks using Python

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in a fast-paced Agile development environment
  • Assists in designing, modifying, and developing a server application in C++ and Python while working with team members developing a client application in Java
  • Updates and troubleshoots build scripts to ensure the software and software environment is configured correctly
  • Performs complex programming assignments in collaboration with both junior and senior engineers
  • Develops code to integrate new data sources into existing and new displays
  • Makes recommendations for new functionality or enhancements to existing functionality
  • Participates in project meetings to update stakeholders on status
  • Participates in planning meetings to project timelines of software development and integration tasks
  • Provides support during system testing to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Gains familiarity with the system in order to troubleshoot hardware issues as well as software issues
  • Provides input for application and system documentation
  • Interact with other team members through code reviews, design discussions, and UI design activities
  • Leverages experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Participates in full software lifecycle support to include requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit testing as well as integration and testing
