 Public Sector Research Coordinator -  Early Learning, Community Clinics, Mental Health
 
The Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the nation’s fastest growing labor organization representing more than 2.2 million members seeks Public Sector Research Coordinators to lead research teams in child care, mental health and community clinic sectors. The Coordinators will focus on identifying strategic large –scale organizing opportunities, and coordinating the research work of certain organizing programs including setting research priorities in light of the needs of the Public Division and assisting in the development of research staff to further support this work. The Coordinators will additionally work both with local union leadership to develop a public division organizing program on the state level and with State Council leadership and staff and SEIU’s Department of Legislative Affairs on legislative reforms . The Coordinators serve as SEIU’s primary coordinator, in conjunction with the Public Division staff lead, with the appropriate advocate communities and employer associations. 
 
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Economics, Business or other relevant field and at least five years of relevant research experience leading major research projects. Industry knowledge, strategic thinking and a demonstrated commitment to developing staff . Knowledge of public sector issues, public budgeting and publicly funded reimbursement systems. Proficiency in statistical analysis and techniques as well as in on-line information sources and investigative research techniques. Ability to handle multiple “priority” projects simultaneously, meet established deadlines, develop and present reports and work effectively with elected leaders and staff in complex, political situations. Advanced skill in the use of personal computers using Access, Excel and other spreadsheet, word processing, and on-line information sources applications.
